  • The Upper Layer: Hydrophilic spun-bond non-woven fabric that allows the passage of liquid instantly but stays dry to touch.
  • The Absorbing Layer: SAP with tissue paper or airlaid fluff pulp that distributes the fluid equally throughout the channels.
  • The Backing Layer: PE or breathable film that prevents leakage and keeps bed linen or surgical trays dry.

3. Sterilisation Compatibility

Since your pads will be used for surgery or dressing kits, it is important that you check whether they withstand sterilisation processes using ethylene oxide gas or gamma rays without getting yellow, becoming brittle, or losing adhesive power.

4. Wet Tensile Strength and Durability

During patient transfer, the pad suffers from tremendous friction. Should the inner layer get torn apart or bunched up, there would be no protection. Good pads have diamond or channel embossing to make them bond together and remain strong even while fully saturated.
